Thank goodness for Friday!

Wow – I was sooo happy for today to be Friday! It has been such a long week, and even though I have a super busy weekend coming up – I am looking forward to some time away from the office 🙂

I am excited to say that I actually had oatmeal this morning for breakfast! The caf at work has been doing an oatmeal bar on Fridays – and I finally got to enjoy a serving this morning. It was pretty good! I had maybe a cup of oatmeal, I added some skim milk to it and topped it with mixed berries, a couple of chocolate chips, and granola. Where was my camera!? I do not know – but it was not with me 😦 But I sure did enjoy it!

As always, I was so impressed by how the oatmeal stuck with me for the rest of the morning and a good part of the afternoon! Yay!  I also have to say that due to my extra sleep last night, I did wake up feeling refreshed for the first time in a long while.

I used my lunch time today to head over to Marathon Sports to pick up my bib number for the 5k which is Sunday.  It was a bit of an ordeal to get in the car and drive to Boylston Street during lunch hour – but somehow my friend Kristin and I survived and we even got a parking spot right on Boylston Street!  We picked up our registration bags which had our tee shirts and our super important runners gloves (I can already tell that I’ll be getting a lot of use out of them!) along with some other important things. Kristin and I are pretty excited about the 5K.

Due to the errand at lunch – I ate my lunch late and at my desk.  I had a piece of pizza and a Chobani yogurt. What a great combo! It really kept me going for a long time, I was surprised and impressed!

At 2:30 I went down to the lunch room to help celebrate a colleagues birthday. I had a small piece of chocolate cake which was very good (thanks Sharon)!

I left work at 5pm and went straight to the gym.  Seeing as though the 5K is on Sunday, (and due to the recent doctors appointments, I had to put some of my training on the back burner) I wanted to see if I could get a short and low key run in today. I jogged 2 miles and walked another half mile. I felt great after – I definitely could have done three miles or more – but I decided not to push myself so close to race day. I am definitely not racing on Sunday. I have decided to take it easy, jog (and walk if I need to) and just get the first 5K under my belt. I actually get nervous about organized sporting events – so I’m hoping by participating in my first 5K I can get rid of some of the nerves I usually suffer from. Perhaps I will register for another 5K this spring and I’ll worry more about my actual time then.

After the workout, I stopped by Trader Joe’s to pick up a few groceries for the weekend. Some of the things I bought were bagels, skim milk, TJ’s fiber cereal, Dr. Praeger’s veggie burgers and a few other things.

For dinner I made a wrap with a Dr. Praeger’s burger, 1/4 cup TJ’s light Mexican Cheese, a TJs tortilla (small size), 1 cup of mixed greens, salsa and fat free sour cream. Yum! I also had a side of TJs Asian peanut cold noodles and a glass of light soy milk.

(I know, a super unattractive picture!)

That is about all there is to recap for Friday. I’m heading for bed, I cannot believe it’s after 11 PM already!

See you soon – have a great weekend, everyone!
