Dinner

Summer Weekend

Summer is officially here, and so far it has been a very nice one. Before summer arrived, SC and I were really excited to get a new gas grill. We thought we would be more likely to use it during the week and figured we would still go back to our trusty (and amazing) charcoal grill on the weekends when we had more time to prepare our dinners.

So far this summer we have just gotten back into using the charcoal grill every time we have wanted to grill dinner. It has been easy (thanks to our chimney that helps us get the coals ready) and fast. So we have held off on getting the gas grill. We were really excited to get the Weber Spirit E310 but now that we are using the charcoal grill on a regular basis, I think we will stick to that for another season!

We have had this grill for over five years now and it never lets us down:

The other weekend we had grass fed beef hamburgers for dinner. We had a great amount of fresh produce (the best thing about summer!) that really helped make our meal amazing! That day we had visited a local farm that is only about 15 minutes away from our house and we picked up a ton of fruits and vegetables:
Strawberries, blueberries, 4 zucchini, a head of romaine lettuce, radishes, 4 homegrown tomatoes, scallions, and more for only $23!

It was such an amazing haul. I was so thrilled. There is nothing like farm fresh strawberries and blueberries. The romaine lettuce stays good for days because it was fresh right from the field. Now that I have discovered this farm, I do not even glance at the produce section at Wegmans – except for organic apples because they aren’t in season yet. But we save a bunch of time and money when we go to the grocery store now!

We grilled our hamburgers on the grill that night and I have never had such an amazing burger – and it was all of the additions along with the high quality beef that made it so good. We put a little bit of seasoning on the burgers (a tiny pinch of salt, freshly ground pepper, and worcestershire sauce).

The end result was a really great burger and a perfect summer Saturday night:

  1. That looks really yummy! Amazing and beautiful tomatoes, too. We don’t have such things here except at the Farmers’ Market which I can not visit because of work. Loved your post!
