Monday: Heat, food, pool!

Hey All –

I hope you’ve all had a great Monday, and if you are in the middle of a heat wave, I hope you are surviving! The key to surviving these oh so hot days is going to a pool after work… ah!

So, last night I did prepare my breakfast and lunch for work today. I was very happy to have my cold over-night oats this morning! In the mix was 1/3 cup of oats, 1/3 cup of brown cow 1% milk, 1/3 cup of Stoneyfield yogurt. I also added a dash of vanilla, pumpkin spice and cinnamon and let it sit overnight. I really like adding the spices before the oats sit in the fridge because it lets the spices infuse mixture completely.

Before eating this morning I added granola, PB2 and fresh blueberries. P8170010.JPG

At 11:50 my colleagues and I had the brilliant idea to go for a walk in the 92 degree sun…. in other areas of the country 92 degrees does not seem all that hot (Colorado, Arizona, etc.) but in New England the humidity makes it seem a lot hotter. Oh well. We are addicted to our walking… and as I reminded people, it will be January before we know it – so we went out there to enjoy the heat! In half an hour I think we walked maybe 1.5 miles, maybe a little bit more… but it was slow going! I am glad I had my SPF 15 on because I did not get a burn.

It took me about an hour to feel better after our long and hot walk (ok, it was not that long but it felt horribly long). After a while I was finally able to eat lunch. I had an almond butter and blackberry jam sandwich on Arnold’s double protein bread (I love this stuff!), grapes and a Polar seltzer which was wonderfully refreshing.

At around 3 o’clock I needed a snack and had a Kashi granola bar… and forgot to take a picture of it. I do like the Kashi granola bars because they have a good amount of protein and fiber for a snack.

Traffic was pretty bad going home today because I got a later than normal start after getting caught up at work a little later than normal. I was sort of excited to get home as soon as possible so that I could get to my friends’ pool to spend the rest of the daylight hours and get some relief from this sooo hot day. I was home from work at 5:30 and had to fix a quick dinner before I left again – for the pool!

I made an egg, a piece of Canadian bacon and melted some jack cheese on a piece of double protein bread, and cut a few slices of tomato… this was a great sandwich with lots of protein!

After eating and changing I headed over to the pool and hung out with my friends for a great deal of the night. Swimming and water volley ball can really make one tired after an early morning and a long day at work!

When I got home I decided to have a peach, some blueberries, sherbert and a tad bit of light cool-whip (which we bought for a summery dessert a couple of weeks ago… someone needs to eat this cool whip!!!!) it made a great dessert – very fresh and summery.

Oh – and of course I had to add a small spoonful of almond butter…. fantastic!!

Ok, I’m going to bed soon – I am very tired and it’s only Monday night…. I hope I can survive the week. I hope everyone has had a great night. See you soon!
