It is rather cold outside, and tonight I was in need of some serious comfort food. This meal takes me back to when I was a kid, although I have changed it up for tonight.
One of the meals I loved the most as a kid was when my parents made spaghetti and their homemade sauce. It was simply the best.
Tonight I threw together a simple but hearty meal of whole wheat pasta, tomato and vegetable sauce (Trader Joe’s – great mushrooms mixed in!) and Trader Joe’s turkey meat balls.
This meal is very lean (about 5 grams of fat), high in protein (23 grams between two turkey meat balls and a serving of the whole wheat pasta) and it is really good. I could taste the sodium, but since I normally am so conscious of my sodium intake I did not worry too much about tonight’s dinner.
It was really good, and really hit the spot. I had a very busy day so another perfect thing about this meal is that you can make it in under twenty minutes! I love fast and nutritious food.
Enjoy your Saturday night. Stay tuned for my Wildflour Vegan Bakery review – coming soon!
