Happy weekend, Bloggies! I really took it easy with my exercise this week – it was in the nineties most of the week and it really just zapped me of all energy I was able to muster (which wasn’t all that much to begin with!).
I guess I felt a little better taking it easy because this week was officially a taper week because I have a 10K race on Sunday. Actually, it is my favorite race of the year. I will write more on that tomorrow – once the race is over. Thankfully the weather forecast seems to be cooperating – even though it has been in the 90s all week, tomorrow it is going to be a lot less humid and the high will only be 80 wonderful degrees. Last year when I ran this race, it was 97% humidity at the start (which was at 8am).
Yesterday I had a good pre-race day of food. Breakfast was a great combo of carbs, protein and fat – a whole grain english muffin, 1 1/2 tablespoons of peanut butter and an entire banana. (I love potassium!)
Lunch was a small piece of grilled chicken and a Greek yogurt. (I didn’t have much time at work to take lunch, and I wasn’t able to snap a photo of lunch). All day at work I drank a lot of water.
As I was driving home from work, the temperature readout on my car said 102 degrees at one point. Are you kidding me!? Wow. I have actually never seen the temperature on my car go above 100 degrees. I wasn’t even sure it could read three digits (good to know!).
Dinner last night was whole wheat mac & cheese with turkey meatballs and panko breadcrumbs. It really hit the spot.
This morning’s breakfast was Greek yogurt and a sprinkle of cereal. I have been having a lot of water today, and I had a cup of coffee with 1% milk. I’m going to eat something with salt today (per running advice for running in summer heat..?) and I’ll have either pizza or pasta for dinner tonight.
I hope you all have a great weekend! See you soon!
