Happy New Year

Happy New Year, blog readers! What does 2013 have in store for you? Have you made New Year resolutions? I am not much for resolutions, but I figured making a few important ones cannot hurt.

This morning I spent a while writing out Happy New Year cards to friends that I have not seen in a long while. One of my resolutions is to see at least a couple of my really good friends that live far away this year. Perhaps I will take a trip out to the West coast and cook and bake with some of my favorite people. I hope to be able to make it happen. I miss a lot of my good friends. I am already in negotiations with a couple of my friends that live in the same state, and hopefully we will have a date for a much needed catch up dinner in the next month or two.

Another one of resolutions is to waste less food. Let’s get one thing straight – I am not a food waster. But there is always room for improvement, I think. For the last year I have basically been living in two homes, which makes eating fresh produce a little more difficult for me. This year I am making a stronger effort. Both in eating fresh fruits and vegetables every single day, and coming up with some sort of system for either transporting my food, or making sure other folks are eating, too so we are wasting less. I am sure I will be writing about this on the blog – so stay tuned.

This brings us to breakfast this morning. I had the best bowl of yogurt, fresh fruit, two spoonfuls of Kind granola and a drizzle of honey and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Oh my – this was a delightful and healthy breakfast.

In the bowl: 0% plain Chobani, fresh raspberries, fresh strawberries, blueberry vanilla Kind granola, Trader Joe’s honey and a sprinkle of cinnamon on top. I loved this bowl. Definitely a good idea for breakfasts. I will be eating this more in the coming days, weeks and months.

I hope that the first few hours of 2013 are peaceful, restful and wonderful for all of you! I wish you the best for the coming year. I’ll be back soon – stay tuned.

🙂
