Happy Sunday everyone! I hope you are all having a great day so far.
My day is off to a bit of a frustrating start – I must admit! I usually never set an alarm on Sunday morning. But today I did – because I wanted to be sure to make the 10am Spin Class this morning with my new favorite fitness instructor – Beth.
So, I woke up at 9am and got my morning started. I did not have time to take a photo of breakfast – but it was small. One slice of Arnold’s double fiber bread (toasted) with one tablespoon of Teddy peanut butter. Also, one 6 oz juice glass of orange juice. This breakfast is great for before a workout – it is light but surprisingly filling! The last thing you want during a spin class is to be super full from what you had for breakfast – but at the same time, I always have to eat something before going because my stomach will be growling the entire class if I don’t. That’s always fun – having all of your fellow spinners looking around thinking, “who’s stomach is making all that noise!?”
So. I got to the gym at 9:30 this morning. A full half hour early to class. I heard the guy at the front desk talking about the 11:15 spin class to another woman who was just walking in… and I thought, “oh no! Is Beth sick and not coming to class??” No. Of course Beth would not be sick – I just saw her yesterday as I was running the 5K on the treadmill.
So, I waited my turn to talk to our friend at the front desk to see what was going on with my 10am Spin. To my shock (I don’t have any idea why I was surprised seeing as though it is about 15 degrees out!) the class was FULL! People had been calling in since 7 in the morning signing up for the spin class!! I had NEVER signed up for spin and always been able to get in without a problem (usually there are about 5 – 10 people in class with a total of 25 bikes). I was SOO disappointed! At the front desk they put my name down as the third alternate for the class. UGH.
So, I went downstairs to put my stuff away, and then upstairs to see what I could do about the situation. I saw a ton of people in their biker gear… so I knew a lot of people were already here for the class.
I decided to get on the ERG (my gym has a new Concept2!) and work out for a while, until 10 am to see if I could get on an extra bike once the class started. 😦 Well, I ERGed for 10 minutes and 2000 meters (just like the old days of Union College Crew!) and then did an easier 5 minutes to cool down. By this time it was 9:55 and the class was starting. There were no extra bikes. There were two people who had signed up for the class that did not find a bike right away – but that situation eventually got figured out.
I ended up leaving the gym after my ERG workout because I was not really prepared to do anything else. I never go to the gym so unprepared! I did not have my iPod. I did not have running attire to hop on the treadmill, and all of the elipticals were taken. I guess Sunday morning is a really popular time to go to the gym. I usually end up going Sunday afternoons and watch football as I run.
On my way home I stopped by Starbucks to get a coffee which is sort of making me feel better (not really).
Now we are on to our usual Sunday routine – Meet the Press, laundry, cleaning, etc. I am jealous of all the people at Spin right now.
Oh – I did sign up for a 6am spin class tomorrow!! I hope I can make it! Monday mornings are always soo hard for me – but maybe having this class will help me get out of bed and get my week off to a great start! We shall see.
Have a great Sunday everyone. I will be back later with more updates.
