Monday already?

Hi Everyone –

Well, I don’t have photos today – sorry! But I will catch up soon. We had a long and busy weekend – so I sort of feel like I need a weekend from my weekend. Hmm…

I do have to say that last night was great – my sister treated Ben, myself and my mom to the Holiday Boston Pops at Symphony Hall. We all had so much fun! Before the concert we had dinner at Sonsie, which is always a nice experience. My sister and I both had salads and we shared pizzas for our main course. It was the perfect amount of food, because neither of us were too full after dinner.

On to the Big News of the day. I have registered for a 5K today! I received my usual webmail from Marathon Sports (one of my favorite running shops, located on Beacon Hill in Brookline – around  Washington Square).  There was a recap of the 5K that had just been this weekend, and then a blurb about the upcoming 5K for the Lance Armstrong Foundation on February 1st, 2009.

For my New Year’s Resolution, I have pledged to run at least one 5K in 2009 – and hopefully more than that. I have never run a 5K, as an organized event… my nerves tend to get the best of me, I think. So, I decided just to go for it and sign up, because you have to start somewhere.

I am a little worried about how cold it might be on February 1st, but we’ll see. I will keep you all posted on my progress as I train. On Saturday when I made myself run 3.1 miles, it took me 36 minutes. If I can just take 3 minutes off of my time before February 1, I will be pleased – for my first race. 🙂

Here is a quick recap of food for the day – sorry there are no pretty pictures to go with!

For breakfast I went to Bread n Chocolate with my mom, who spent the night with us in Newton after the Pops.  She had a lemon muffin and I had a lemon blueberry scone – which was my original favorite when I first started going to Bread n Chocolate.  As I have said before, one of the things I love about BNC is the portion / serving sizes – they are normal and not over-sized! My scone was perfect and kept me full well past my normal lunch time.

For lunch I had a Teddy peanut butter and reduced sugar jam sandwich on Arnold’s double fiber bread along with a clementine and a few whole wheat pretzels.

I was soo busy all day today – and I did not actually pause long enough to have an afternoon snack. (So odd!)

After work, Ben and I met up at the Atrium Mall for some holiday shopping. We ended up having dinner at the Cheese Cake Factory which was fun. We split a Santa Fe Salad, Ben had a cup of their black bean soup (I tried a spoonful and it was great – and spicy!) and we had a couple of pieces of their wonderful bread. It was a great dinner!

I took a fifteen minute walk at lunch. It was super warm today, 61 degrees in December. But it was also extremely windy on the water, so the walk was a bit difficult. Unfortunately, after 15 minutes we had to give up and go back inside. But other than that, today was a day off from the gym after several days in a row so not too much exercise to report.

I hope you are all having a great Monday evening. See you tomorrow!
