Running

It is summer out there…

What the heck happened to Spring!? Just wondering! As the weather people said, today does feel like a summer day in July. It is H-O-T outside!

At lunch I went for a two mile speed walk – my friend Kate and I paced about a 14 minute mile most of the way, slowing down just a bit at the end (we were sooo hot!) It really felt great to get out there and walk, though!

Brief recap of my strange eating day.

Breakfast on the go: A chocolate peppermint Luna bar. I really love this flavor as a special treat once in a while. It sort of feels like I am eating a healthy candy bar or sorts (which is basically what I am doing, I guess!) But at only 180 calories and 8 grams of protein, it definitely hit the spot.

I was hungry this morning though… so I broke into the motza that Jane’s mom brought in for me last week. I love motza.

At noon my friend Kate and I went for our walk. By the time I got back to my desk my morning hunger had totally disappeared. I am so thankful! I am re-hydrating with water and snacking on part of my lunch right now:

So, in other news… yesterday I went to the orthopedist to talk about my knee. I had a suspicion that I might be suffering from runners knee, but I wanted to be sure.  I also wanted an attack plan if I did actually have this injury.

Sad to say, that yes, I do have runners knee.  This is my first injury that I have really ever had.  My doctor and I devised a game plan to get through the pain – I hope it works!  Before I run now, I’ll take a Motrin or two. I will run for 1/2 a mile to warm up, and then do at least 10 minutes of stretching. After that, I will run my mileage. Stretch again after and then ice the knee. I am going to give it a try tonight (hopefully it will cool down a little bit!?) and I am keeping my fingers crossed that this will help.

Hope you’re all having a great day! See you tonight!
