Happy weekend everyone! I don’t know about you, but my week was super busy and it went by rather quickly. I am always so glad for the weekend! I especially love Saturday mornings. I just love relaxing, reading, enjoying coffee and catching up with stuff. There is nothing better.
I started my Friday off in Cambridge. It was nice to be able to sleep in a little bit (7 o’clock!) Once Katherine and I paid a visit to one of our favorite places – the 1369 Coffee House. Katherine ordered a toasted bagel with cream cheese. I picked up an amazing blackberry and blueberry scone which I ate at my desk:
When we walked in, I really wanted to skip work [ 😉 ] and grab a seat and enjoy breakfast and have a fun day in Cambridge. Thank goodness my professional brain took over and we continued to commute to work 🙂
My morning was so busy that at 10:30 I still had about 3/4 of my scone remaining. I gave some of it to my intern and ate the rest. It was fantastic. I love scones, but a lot of people do not. Many people I know think that scones are dry. I think if that is your opinion of scones, you might not have enjoyed the perfect scone yet! This scone was dense, but not dry… extremely tasty. You should always enjoy scones with coffee, tea or some other drink. I fell in love with scones while I lived in the UK and went to high tea quite often. Whenever I have a scone now, I always spend at least a moment reflecting on my time in England, and my high tea times at Betty’s. I cannot wait to take a trip back to York! If you are planning a trip to England – do not miss high tea, whatever you do!
Because I finished breakfast so late, I went to lunch on the late side as well. I brought lunch – but it was still a frozen / prepared meal. Ugh. I am definitely going to the grocery store this weekend and doing a much better job planning out my meals!! I do, however, love Amy’s burritos. 🙂
After a couple of minutes in the microwave, wrapped in a paper towel:
I had also packed a pear and a yogurt, but I did not need either of them. Thus, my lunch in entirety looked a little small:
My friend Jane is in the background reading a bridal magazine. Fun times!
I took the commuter rail home from work yesterday. I had a very productive commute time – so much better than sitting in the car, not being able to do anything except deal with other cranky drivers. Instead I wrote a blog post, read my book and enjoyed riding home with someone else behind the wheel. The only draw back is that it takes a lot longer for me to get home when I take the train and it is a lot more expensive. But I’m more than happy to do it from time to time. It is a treat!
Mark picked me up from the train and we went home to have dinner with my mom. She surprised us with my favorite snack – Pop Chips!!! I love these things. I never buy them because they are a snack food, and I have a hard time drawing the line with such things… but they are so good!
Thanks Mom! She paired the Pop Chips with a bowl of cantaloupe – I enjoyed several pieces.
I had requested a light dinner, and we had an amazing salad and fresh bread. It really was the perfect summer dinner:
The salad had orange pepper, spinach, mixed greens, hard boiled eggs, tomato, carrots, avocado, corn, etc. I dressed my salad with olive oil and red wine vinegar. Mom and Mark used a Newman’s Own dressing.
My mom’s table is so beautiful. It is just like a table you would find in a farmhouse somewhere in New England. My parents loved antiques, and our house is full of really great pieces. The farmhouse table is one of my favorites. 🙂
Here I am enjoying my Friday night dinner:

It was a great dinner. Mark and my mom enjoyed dinner as well…
After dinner we started the movie Emma. Mark and I both love this movie. We started it at 9 and by 10 o’clock my mom and I were both asleep. Exhausted from another full week of work, I guess. We are going to finish the movie tomorrow night 🙂
See you soon!
