Well, the final product was a hit:
Everyone loved the bread pudding. It was not too sweet (when I prepped the dish, I put in a bit less than the 1/2 cup of dark brown sugar that the recipe called for). I thought the combination of the sugar and the bananas was going to make for a super sweet dish. Thankfully the milk / half and half combo along with the eggs gave the dish a nice mix of sweet and savory – I was not expecting this! Next time I will put in cinnamon and nutmeg and I might shave a little dark chocolate into the mixture. Everyone tried the bread pudding and my mom had seconds.
Trying to figure out what to have for dinner. I really want Thai food. But I think I will be having a cup of tomato soup (canned unfortunately) and a salad. Have I told you that Mark Bittman says you should have at least one salad a day? Ever since I’ve been able to get my food intake back on track, I’ve managed to incorporate salads into my daily diet. I missed them so much when I was sick that it has been easy these days.
Ok. I’m off to see about dinner. Happy weekend, everyone.
