Last night I mapped out my normal work day. It was not pretty. Almost every moment is spoken for – especially on the days when I run or exercise. This is one reason I like taking the train a couple of times a week. I get my reading time done on the train, and (if it is not raining or snowing) I enjoy a 20 minute walk to the train station after work. [I cannot spare an extra twenty minutes in the morning, so I take the bus which takes about five minutes!]
This morning I took the train again to work. It was a great ride. The train was on time this morning, which always helps.
My eating routine is painfully developing into a pattern. I did not come up with a meal plan this week, because the first couple of days were covered by yogurt with granola and my whole wheat, thin crust pizza, and spinach salad.
Today’s breakfast was consumed at 9:30 this morning when I could snag five minutes to eat:
Lunch was around 12:30 – same as yesterday, but today I remembered to snap a shot of the pizza. For some reason it looks huge in the photo – but it really was not the biggest piece of pizza on earth (even though it looks like it here)
I made the pizza with a no salt added sauce, a part skim mozzarella and red peppers as a topping. I love it! The salad was the same as yesterday: spinach, carrots, tomato, red pepper and that killer sesame and apple cider vinegar dressing:
At three o’clock I was getting grumpy because I was hungry. I had a Larabar in my bag, but it seemed like sort of a big commitment. I decided to go with the banana I had also packed in my lunch bag instead. It held me over until I left the office at 4:30.
I don’t know what the weather is like where you are – but here in Boston, it is cold. Well, maybe not freezing – but the WIND is so strong it could blow you over. I was walking right into the wind for a second day straight on my walk to South Station. I was bundled up.
I walked super fast to the train station. I do not know what came over me. Maybe it was the music I was listening to as I trotted along? I am fairly certain I looked like one of those crazy walker / commuter people that I cannot stand. Oops. I was just trying to get some exercise in 🙂
Once I got on the train (at 5 o’clock) I snacked on a 100 calorie Clif bar. I knew I needed something to get me to the gym, and this was just the thing. When I got in my car at 6 I was definitely hungry, and I could have just gone straight home. Instead I had talked myself into doing an easy 2 mile run on the treadmill at the gym, saving a longer run for tomorrow when I had more time. I am proud that I was able to get motivated to do it 🙂
I did not get home, showered and ready for dinner until nearly 8 o’clock tonight. My mom surprised me (again – what is going on with her this week!?) by making dinner tonight. How amazing!! I got home to a house that smelled like roasted chicken, potato pancakes and asparagus. It was quite a treat to get home!
My dinner plate:
Is it weird that I cannot remember the last time I had meat?? This chicken really hit the spot and I am hoping the protein will help my muscles recover from my run today and on Sunday.
I was feeling spoiled at work today. I was able to wear some super comfortable clothes for the second day in a row – I even took a photo to show you… bravo for comfy work clothes (and sneakers!!)
Cords, tee shirt (two layered, actually), vest, and Saucony running shoes. That is my cup of tea.
I am off to read and go to bed – see you in the morning!
Nice job on getting to the gym. It’s sunny here and I still have problems!
Have you tried the mini lara bars? Perfect two-bite sizes!
You know, I have been trying to find the mini Larabars!!! I love Larabars so much – but sometimes a whole bar is too much for me. I might add that to my to-do list tomorrow. Find mini-Larabars… I’ll try whole foods first – thanks for the reminder!! 🙂
Believe it or not…. I found them at Target!
Oh great! I will check it out – I always love a reason to go to target 🙂 that is where I found the mini Clif bars!
Never need a reason to go to Target! One of my favorite places in the world!
They also have mini luna bars, which I stopped eating because of the sugar.
I found the Larabars today!! I had one this afternoon, it was fantastic 🙂 Thank you so much for reminding me of their existence!
I had a mini one to yesterday before I attempted to hit the gym! They’re the best!
