Yesterday AFM and I went around the area to assess the damage from Irene. I cannot believe how devastated some of the areas of upstate New York are… we are lucky that we opted to stay in New York – originally we had planned to go to Vermont, and the damage there is much worse. For some photos go here, to AFM’s blog from yesterday with a lot of photographs of what we saw.
Yesterday’s breakfast was on the healthy side… Greek yogurt and a small piece of toast with jam and peanut butter:
For lunch AFM and I split a turkey sandwich from Fred The Butcher – it was amazing. For some reason I forgot to snap a photo of it. Probably because it was so good and I was hungry.
Dinner was on the grill again – and it was amazing. I grilled a vegetables, a combo of summer squash, zucchini, a clove of garlic, half an onion and a shallot. All from the Farmer’s Market on Saturday.
The veggies were seasoned with olive oil, salt, pepper and a splash of balsamic. AFM was in charge of protein and starch. Pork chops, potatoes with the most amazing sauce. A most amazing dinner:
This morning I went for a short run – 2.25 miles. It was another beautiful day, cool and crisp and it felt like fall out there. I love running in the morning! I really hate running after work – but when I’m not on vacation it is just about the only option I have.
When I got back from my run I had breakfast – a 2% Chobani, a Vitamin C drink (I felt a sore throat coming on after my run… feeling better now) and a couple of cups of great (farmer’s market) coffee.
Ok, I’m off to start my day. I hope you are all having a good week. See you in a bit.
