Wow. It is finally Friday. It has been a super long work week for me. But it was only a four day work week, thankfully. Even though I had long days, I am glad I only had four days to report to the office. 🙂
I was able to sleep until 7 o’clock this morning – the second day in a row! My body needed it, I guess so I’m glad that I was able to sleep a little later than normal. Of course Katherine and I were up until 12:30 last night, so it did not mean that I got more hours of sleep. For the record, we had a lot of fun eating blue corn chips and salsa.
I got to work at 8:20 this morning (not too shabby for waking up at 7am! I love Katherine’s commute to work.) After turning on my computer, I made a bee line for the cafe where I purchased a cup of coffee. I wanted to purchase five.
I did not have breakfast until 9:45 this morning. I toasted an english muffin and put some peanut butter on it. It was fine. But, AFM was eating at Duncan’s Dairy Bar – and that he was having a much better breakfast than I was.
Here is what my breakfast looked like:
One day we are going to have to chat about how much I love peanut butter. But not today.
I was glad that I had breakfast on the later side this morning. I made it until lunch without a problem. It helped that I was super busy at work [as usual].
Today’s lunch was a pizza staff get together. Fun. I packed vegetable slices (red & orange peppers and carrots) so that I did not fill up on pizza. My plan did not exactly work. The pieces were a little on the small side. But I had three. Sigh. My awesome friend Kristin put a third piece of pizza on my plate because she had three. When we got to our picnic table, I felt a little better to see all of my friends with at least three pieces of pizza. 🙂
Notice the vegetables on my plate?? The lunch organizer actually brought a HUGE tray of sliced veggies. After the lunch I said thank you to Jane for the vegetables. She said that she brought them just for me. Seriously!? She was serious. How cool is that? I ate a couple of handfuls of vegetable sticks, and got to save mine for the drive home.
After pizza my friend Jane (not the same Jane actually) and I went for a 30 minute walk. It was a beautiful autumn day. It was warm, in the low 70s. The sky was blue, and the water was beautiful. We really enjoyed our walk.
The afternoon at work was just as busy as the morning was. Later in the afternoon I started getting hungry. I was about to get a diet coke, but I opted for water. A little while later I walked over to the cafe and bought a small bag of pretzels. The last thing I needed today was another serving of carbs, but sometimes when I am tired I have a lower resistance to snacking.
At five o’clock I had a McVities Digestive Biscuit as I was talking to my friends Colleen and Laurie. The biscuit definitely brought me back to my days in the UK.
I finally left work at 5:20 this afternoon. I ate vegetable sticks on my way home. When I finally got home around 6:30 I dropped my bags and sat down on the couch. I really knew that I needed to get my butt to the gym. But I was exhausted and AFM had recommended that I relax and have a glass of wine. That sounded like the perfect thing to do on a Friday evening.
At around 7:45 I started thinking about dinner. I was sipping a glass of pinot noir. It was lovely.
I did not want to cook, and for most of the evening I was not hungry but eventually I knew I needed to eat something. Nights like this is the reason I keep things like this in my pantry:
All you need to do is add some vegetables, and I added an egg (that exploded in my face actually) for some extra protein.
The important thing to remember about these Trader Joe noodle boxes is that there are TWO servings in a box. So I had my mom split the meal with me. I added a lot of vegetables into the noodles. Spinach, peas, orange & red peppers and scallions. I wish I had remembered to add some of the mushrooms I had on hand. Next time.
So, what is on tap for your weekend? I have a long workout session with my trainer tomorrow starting at 9 o’clock. It is going to be a doozy and I am not sure if I am ready for it. But it will be a great way to start my weekend. I am hoping to get a run in on both Saturday and Sunday.
Ok, happy Friday everyone. I’m signing off and I will see you tomorrow!
