Saturday’s workout was so hard! But it was also awesome. I got to the gym about 20 minutes before my scheduled hour with Celeste. I dropped my bag off in the locker room and jumped right onto the elliptical machine. I was able to get 16 minutes on the elliptical before my time started with Celeste. I did 1.36 miles and burned about 120 calories.
I was lucky enough to get an extra few minutes with Celeste yesterday so we worked out for over an hour. My arms and legs were shaking after, which I know was a good thing. 🙂 I am definitely feeling it in my abs and arms today. We worked with bars, medicine balls, stability balls, kettlebells, and the TRX (suspension training is sooo wonderful, it is by far my favorite!). It was intense.
After our workout I asked Celeste if I should get back on the elliptical machine. She looked at me and said, “No. Go home, and enjoy the weekend. If you want you can work out later today – but your body has had enough for this morning.” The best words I have heard in a while when it comes to training.
I ran some errands on my way home. Once I got home I worked in my room for the next two hours. In the summer I do not sleep in my room because it does not have air conditioning (our house is old!). I sleep in one of the other bedrooms which has an air conditioner. Now that the weather has turned cooler, I have reclaimed my room. But before I did that I had to clean up and put things away from vacation and so on.
Later in the day one of my friends came for a visit. We went to the mall where I bought some wellies! My rain boots are years old, and my pants do not fit into the boots, so they are not all that helpful during rain storms. These new boots are pretty great.
I am not looking forward to the next day of rain, but I will feel a little more prepared.
After picking up the boots, CF and I went to Trinity Brewhouse in downtown Providence. Trinity’s October Fest is out and we both enjoyed a pint. It is really good this year!
We also went up to Thayer Street to Cafe Paragon where we had an early dinner. I was starving by this point. During the day I had my early morning breakfast and a Greek yogurt for lunch. For dinner I ordered French onion soup (it is autumn after all – and we were eating outside) and a grilled chicken sandwich. The soup was so good. The chicken sandwich was wonderful (as usual). It is a grilled chicken breast marinated in a balsamic vinaigrette with roasted red peppers, greens and fresh mozzarella. Instead of fries, I asked for mixed greens on the side.
Later that night I went to the Providence Waterfire, which was nice. I had not been to one of these events in years. My mom loves going to them, and we had a nice time walking around.
After walking around, we went to Ben & Jerry’s for ice cream. I ended up getting a cone of Half Baked frozen yogurt. It was quite good! I felt like it was the end of summer in some ways, and I wanted to go out of for ice cream one last time before the season was over. (This was only the second time over the summer that I went out for ice cream!)
I am having a slow start to my Sunday right now. 1 mug of coffee has been consumed. I need some sort of breakfast, a second cup of coffee and soon enough I am going to be hitting the road for a run. I hope to do at least five miles.
Love the Wellies!
Ah, glad you approve. The next hurricane or flood we weather through together, I will be even more prepared!
