So, in case you were wondering I got my run done yesterday. I did 5 1/3 miles and it was pretty hard. I really need to learn that getting a longish run over with first thing in the morning is really the best thing to do. By the time I left the house at 12:30 it was hot. The sun was over head, and it just made the run not quite as much fun. Oh well. It’s all about trade offs. I did enjoy my morning coffee and breakfast before I left.
Yesterday after the run I went to East Side Market where I bought a few more groceries to get through the week. I bought a loaf of bread from Seven Stars. On the way home from the run I tore off a piece of bread and ate it. I figured I needed some carbs after the run.
Once I was home I made a protein smoothie. Pretty simple. Yogurt, protein powder, ice a small handful of blueberries. It was great. Cool and refreshing.
Dinner last night was also good.
We had mushroom ravioli, a spinach and vegetable salad and a piece of the Seven Stars bread. It really hit the spot, I was pretty hungry after the run. I snacked on carrots and a couple of tortilla chips during the afternoon.
I went to bed early last night – 10 o’clock. But when my alarm went off this morning at 5:45 I was not quite ready to face the day.
I’ll be back later. Happy Monday everyone.
I didn’t start my run until 1:30 today and it was hot! It was hard, but I’m glad I did it. You’re right though, it’s better to knock them out in the mornings.
Lisa – I’m glad I’m not the only one that thought running later in the day would be ok 🙂 I hope I can remember my own advice at 7 am on Saturday!!
I do a 5am run tomorrow. I’m looking forward to it and dreading it at the same time, if that’s possible.
Good luck with the run! I love running early in the fall because the weather is usually so wonderful. My next long run is on Saturday. I always look forward and dread my long runs, too!
