Monday night

Congratulations on surviving Monday!  Personally, I stayed up way too late last night watching the Patriots beat the Jets  – I am pretty sure it was worth it. But it made for a long day on not too much sleep last night.

Thankfully I had some fairly healthy food to have even though there was practically no food in the house after my few days away.  The oatmeal and peanut butter was great for breakfast.

Before lunch I went for a quick walk (20 minutes) outside. Thankfully it was a little warm out because I was basically sleep walking out the door this morning and I forgot a jacket. WEIRD since it is the middle of November (but it felt like late September today which I did not like at all).

For lunch I had a can of Progresso soup. I love soup, but I hate canned soups (for the most part) because there is SO much sodium in most soups. But today I put this issue aside, and enjoyed vegetable soup.  It was very good.

My afternoon snack was an apple and peanut butter (I had a tablespoon at breakfast and a tablespoon in the afternoon which makes for one serving of peanut butter!)  I had the apple and peanut butter at 2 and at 3:30 I had a fun sized Milkyway (yup – that’s right! Bravo for the last piece of Halloween candy [all 6 of them] being eaten today!)

After work I headed right to the gym. I ran 2 and a half miles on the treadmill.  I did not have the right socks on and I am still breaking in my new running shoes. I could feel hot spots (the beginning of blisters) on my feet, so I stopped at 2 1/2. I figured it was better than not running  at all.

Once I left the gym I went to Whole Foods. I bought things for dinner and lunches this week.

I got home, showered, changed and started on dinner. My plate looked very interesting:

At WF I bought a vegetable spring roll, salmon, and curried rice. Tonight I sauteed spinach and garlic and had that on the side. I loved dinner tonight! I am glad that I have leftovers for tomorrow’s lunch.

Today I could not stop thinking about my next running goal. I have been batting around the thought of running a marathon. A marathon is one of my life goals – I have always wanted to run one. I need a goal to work towards right now, and maybe having a marathon lined up in May 2012 would be just the thing. The jury is still out.

I tried to stop thinking about marathons and started coming up with goals for the long New England winter months that are just around the corner.  One of my goals for the winter is to get out during lunch and walk on as many days as possible. For both exercise, fresh air and sunlight.  I also have the goal of getting to the gym at least four days a week even if it is for just half an hour – but hopefully it will be for longer on most nights. Once the clocks go back, I can just go to work and come home – and settle in for the night, so it is important to have a goal of exercise on the books. In the coming months I will let you know how I do on these two goals, and I will list more when I come up with them!

I hope you all have a good Tuesday morning. I am going to clean up the kitchen, pack lunch and head to bed with my new Stephen King book. I am only on page 55 but I am really liking it so far!

See you tomorrow.
