Froyo for Dinner…

Hi there blog readers. I hope you have all had a good Tuesday. Personally, I cannot believe that tomorrow is Wednesday (ok, I just typed Friday for some reason – would it not be amazing if tomorrow was Friday and we already had another weekend?) – but really, Monday and Tuesday were good days, I hope the rest of the week continues with this trend.

On Tuesday morning my alarm went off at 5:35 AM. I pressed snooze once – even though I was not supposed to. When my alarm went off again, I bribed myself to get up. I said, “If you get up now, something good will happen today!” (how lame is the fact that I have to beg myself to get up early?) I was up at 5:43 AM and the coffee was already brewing, thankfully. I poured myself a mug of coffee before having my shower.

I left the house at 6:25 and was sitting at my desk at work by 7:20. Not too shabby. I was excited to be at the office early so that I could leave at a decent time and get to the gym before I was too tired.

I had breakfast at 8:30 AM. Overnight Oats made a return after being absent for over a year! I have missed overnight oats… they were good this morning!

(So, they are not pretty – but they taste so good and they are really filling. I did not need a mid morning snack!) In the mix:

1/2 C of dry oats

1/2 C plain 0% yogurt

1/2 C skim milk

a pinch of chia seeds

half a banana

sprinkle of cinnamon

So. Good. Overnight oats will be coming back shortly!

At 12:15 I went out for a much needed 30 minute walk after being in a two hour meeting. It was great walking with my wonderful friend Colleen. She always brightens my day when we get to chat.

After our walk I warmed up last night’s dinner. I made homemade pizza with red and orange peppers, onions and mushrooms as a topping:

(Nothing I ate was pretty today, just saying.)

I left work at 4:15 this afternoon and was determined to get to the gym. I ate an apple on the way, and it was great. I also had three Clif ‘shot roks’ protein bites (peanut butter flavor). I love these things and I was really happy when I found them at REI over the weekend.

I got to the gym, did 35 minutes on the elliptical machine. Then I did weights for 20 minutes. 10 minutes of arms and 10 minutes for legs (focusing on hip abductors and calf muscles). I tried to run an easy mile on the treadmill, but in the first .20 miles I felt a weird pain so I stopped running. Yikes, it scared me! I realized that I have not ran on a treadmill in ages because I have been doing a most of my running outside. If it is not raining tomorrow night after work, I’ll have to hit the trails outside to see how I feel. Fingers are crossed that everything is ok and it’s just that I have to re-acclimate to the treadmill. (or not!)

After the gym I met mom for dinner. We had a very special dinner planned for tonight!! Frozen Yogurt with lots of toppings!!! I am going to write more about our frozen yogurt experience soon, but for now, feast your eyes on THIS:

OH MY GOODNESS. That is all I can say. This froyo is from FROYO WORLD on Thayer Street in Providence. GO THERE if you live near the East Side especially if you love frozen yogurt, like I do! The flavors I had tonight were cake batter and peanut butter. I can’t wait to go back – but I have to promise myself not to go back every day. Or every other day. I have to have self control.

Ok, I’m packing up and getting ready for my day tomorrow and then I’m heading for bed so that I can get up obscenely early yet again and get my day off to a good start. I hope you all have a great Wednesday, and I’ll see you tomorrow.
