Hey All –
Ben and I are currently recovering from Scooper Bowl. I know. Why on earth would I go to Scooper Bowl when the main idea is to eat ice cream!? I had a few good reasons 🙂 Good friends, a good cause, and I sort of love ice cream… but more on that later!
OK, so for breakfast I had to make a decision at the caf at work…. of course I wanted a bagel. But instead I had a fat free Stoneyfield blueberry yogurt. I know it sounds silly, but I was really proud of myself for not giving in to the power of the carbs / bagel. 🙂
At only 110 calories and 6 grams of protein, I was surprised that this got me through until lunch time. (I know, I say this a lot! It seems I am always hungry between breakfast and lunch unless I have oatmeal.)
After an entire week of rain and gray skies, I really, really wanted to go for a walk at lunch time. But it was raining and freezing cold. All day (even at my desk) I had a chill that I could not seem to shake. It is June – but it feels like summer is months away in Boston.
I really lucked out with lunch today. I had to buy in the caf, since we still have no food and I had two great choices. (So rare!) My favorite sandwich and one of my favorite soups was on the menu today!
It took me a few minutes, but I decided on my favorite sandwich because there was only one left – and I felt like it had my name on it. It is a fresh mozzarella, roasted tomato and basil sandwich – and I love it. Although the caf serves it cold, I took it upstairs and warmed it up in the toaster oven.
A close up of my awesome sandwich…
Just an FYI regarding all of my meals… pictured above is one of my SIGG bottles. I always have a lot of water with my lunch and through out the day. I drink at least two liters of water a day, usually more.
At four o’clock this afternoon, I was hungry. Shocking. Thankfully I had a Banana Bread Larabar! I had 3/4 of the bar, and gave the last bit to my friend Katherine 🙂 I love Larabars so much.
My Larabar to the rescue:
Katherine and I left work at 5 o’clock and then met up with Ben at The Side Bar in Downtown Crossing. We were there briefly and then went on to meet some more friends at the Scooper Bowl.
For those of you who don’t know, Scooper Bowl is an annual event / fund raiser for the Jimmy Fund. A lot of ice cream companies come together and offer free scoops of ice cream to people who pay $8 dollars.
The event seems totally over indulgent to me, but two of my very good friends from college are always so excited to go each year, and I figured I would give it a try. The money goes to the Jimmy Fund, there is ice cream, and there are great friends!
I was not planning on having much ice cream… but I did have a few scoops. But I stopped eating before I was full. Here I am:
I will not be having ice cream for a long time, now. 🙂 But the Scooper Bowl was a lot more fun than I thought it would be, I must say!
I am so happy that tomorrow is Friday! I hope you all have a great day tomorrow. I will be posting either late on Friday or early on Saturday. My mom, sister and Ben are taking me out to dinner in the North End tomorrow night to celebrate my new promotion at work – fun!
Never even thought to heat that up!! Those tomatoes always gave me a tummy ache. My sister in law was at Side Bar tonight! Xoxo
we had milkshakes!!! It’s so good to be bad!!
