Hi All –
I hope that everyone is having a good day. It is Wednesday, hump day, which seems so weird since it is only the second day of our work week.
My friends and I have recently been talking about things that we are craving and I thought it was really interesting. Most of my friends are craving certain foods – and I am definitely all about that, too. Here are some of the foods I have been craving recently:
A latte from Starbucks – this is especially annoying because I do not have a Starbucks in my neighborhood at home or at work. I will have to wait until the weekend because when I finally pass a Starbucks on the way to the gym, it is about 7 o’clock in the evening and I definitely do not want a latte (de-caf even!) at that time of night! 😦
McDonald’s French Fries – seriously. I have been craving a small order of french fries for a while now. Do not be surprised if you see some fries on the blog in the next couple of days!!
Chocolate Chip Cookies – I have to tell you, after my run and even after my dinner last night of spinach and veggie salad, salmon and brown rice – I still had enough room in my stomach for one and a half chocolate chip cookies! I hope that craving has passed now 🙂 If you are looking for a great bakery – check out the Handy Bake Shoppe at 119 Bishop Avenue in Rumford, Rhode Island. They have the most amazing cookies, pies and breads. The catch is they are only open Friday through Sunday from 8am until 5pm – so make a plan to visit them on a weekend, you will not be sorry!
Unlike my friends, I also have been craving things that are not food related. Here are some of the things I came up with during our conversation:
A Good Book – I posted this on my facebook status last night, and thankfully some of my friends wrote in with suggestions!! I am going to look into A Gate at the Stairs by Lorrie Moore and Let the Great World Spin by Colum McCann. Both works of fiction, so I am excited. I usually read non-fiction and political history books, so I am excited for a change of pace.
More Time to Exercise – my long days at work + commuting are hard. It can be really difficult to get the energy to head to the gym when you are walking into your house at 7pm. But I am working my schedule, so hopefully I will have more time soon. Tomorrow I am driving to work, and I hope to be home by 5:30 instead of 7 – we shall see if this plan works!
More Time to Cook (during the week) – I guess I crave more hours in the day! Right now I really want to dig into my new copy of Mastering the Art of French Cooking. I really want to make the potato and leek soup soon, so I will hopefully be reporting back on that shortly – maybe by next week?
All things considered, I do not really crave that many things in life – which I think makes for a pretty happy person. 😀
Hope everyone is having a good day – see you tonight for a re-cap of the day.
I’m reading Animal Vegetable Miracle and it is SO good.
