Hey All –
Wow, crazy busy day for me! I did not have time to snap a whole lot of photos today. But I had a cup of coffee this morning on the train, and I really enjoyed reading Bourdain’s Kitchen Confidential. I read thirty pages on the train this morning!
When I got to the office I quickly made a bowl of Kashi instant oats while checking my office e-mail inbox. It was sort of a nice surprise that after a day off on Friday, my in box was not over flowing! There were several e-mails, but it was not as bad as I had expected (perhaps because I was one of those folks checking work e-mail over the weekend!) The oatmeal was good this morning, too 🙂
Today was the office holiday cookie swap. Katie and I were a little sad to miss this, since we were working in the satellite office today. But thankfully Katie brought in cookies for us to enjoy while our colleagues were having their cookie day. The actual cookie day was at 2 o’clock this afternoon – but Katie and I definitely had a cookie at around 11 AM and they were sooooo good 😀
I think the traditional name for these cookies are peanut butter blossoms and they are some of my favorite traditional cookies!
My lunch today was a cup of tomato soup from Au Bon Pain, a piece of whole grain bread (a smudge of butter – I love the fact that ABP provides non-salted butter!) and a tangerine. The photos from lunch did not come out at all but here is the tangerine!
During the afternoon Katie and I both had a couple more cookies (of course!). I received a few great dinner ideas from friends. But most of the recipes took some time, and had ingredients that I did not have on hand. Since I did not get home from work until 7 o’clock tonight, I opted for something simple with things I had in the house. Sorry to be so dull! But before dinner was ready, I had a green smoothie made with 1/2 a scoop of Amazing Meal, 1/4 scoop of protein powder and 1/2 cup of milk and 2 cups of water. This made me feel like I got some greens in me today!
For dinner I had spaghetti, tomato sauce from Trader Joe’s and 1/2 a cup of Boca crumble. It was a pretty good dinner in a pinch. I really need to get to the grocery store – I hope I can make it tomorrow after work! Here is what the second half of dinner looked like tonight:
One of my steadfast rules in the kitchen / house is to always have a jar of un-opened tomato sauce on hand!! I need to make a mental note to remember to pick another jar up the next time I am at Trader Joe’s…. we’re all out in this house!
Well everyone, hope your Monday went well – see you soon!
My husband and I love Bourdain — he came to our city to speak at a film festival and we totally stalked him.
My friends and I love Bourdain, too! He is coming to Providence in January and a few of us are going to hear him talk… we are really looking forward to it 🙂
That pie looks really yummy! Thanks for the recipe. I’ll try it.
