Hey Bloggies:
I have to say, I’m sort of proud of myself today! I had a long, productive day at work – and after the day at work I attended a retirement party for a colleague and then a blog production meeting with a friend (more to come soon, I promise). I left the office at 6:35 tonight – and somehow I was able to get myself to the gym! But I have to start at the beginning of the day…
Breakfast was a great cup of coffee with steamed light vanilla soy milk and a sprinkle of cinnamon in the car, and a bowl of Kashi oatmeal once I got to the office. I added a spoonful of protein powder, PB2 and ground flax to the bowl. I loved these additions – it really bulked up the oats and kept me going until 12:30 when lunch time finally rolled around.
Not bad for a bowl of instant oats:
Lunch was very similar to yesterday’s. Left overs from my birthday party! Veggies:
Along with more of my homemade macaroni and cheese:
I love this mac and cheese! While I could not really eat it every day for lunch, sometimes I feel like I could – it is so good!
I did not eat again until the retirement party, which was really nice and the food was wonderful. There were a lot more vegetables, my colleague is an avid gardner and he loves veggies – so glad they had so many at the party. I also had a couple of pieces of french bread (my favorite thing in the entire world, perhaps?) and a small cup of clam chowder with freshly ground pepper.
I left the office at 6:35 in the evening. I had changed into my gym clothes, and some how was able to convince myself to get to the gym. I had been planning to break up my run by doing one mile, then break for weights and run another. However, once I got on the treadmill, I realized that just getting the two miles over with would be [almost] easy. So I did it. I was on the treadmill for 2.25 miles and 23 minutes. After the mileage I did 15 minutes of weights. I had a quick workout tonight, but I was really proud of myself for not going straight home after sort of a long day. I got home at around 8:40 this morning which was a 14 hour day away from home. It is not even 9:30 yet, and I am planning on going to bed in a few minutes!
After I got home from working out and running a couple of errands on the way home, I made myself a quick and healthy snack. Arnold sandwich thin and a tablespoon of Barney Butter, four sliced strawberries and a glass of light vanilla soy milk with a sprinkle of cinnamon. It was a great post workout snack:
OK – it is time for bed. Hope you all had a great day – see you tomorrow!
What is Barney’s Butter? Peanut or almond butter? Love your blog!
Barney Butter is almond butter. For the longest time you could only order it on line – but now depending on where you live, it is easier to get. If you are from New England you can find Barney Butter at Shaws. Give it a try – it is fantastic stuff!
