Saturday Morning…

Hi Bloggies –

Wow, this week flew by because I was soo busy at work. I certainly did not write enough on the blog though! I ran a total of 11 miles in the last 6 days. Not bad. 🙂

Saturday morning is my favorite time of the week! I used to like to “sleep the morning away” as my dad used to tell me. But now I do like to get up during the morning hours and enjoy the day! This morning I was up at 8:45 (still enjoyed sleeping in a bit!) and made a great bowl of oatmeal.

(this is the photo from last Saturday – the oatmeal was basically the same, sans brown sugar – it was even in the same bowl!) Today’s oatmeal had 1/2 cup of oats, 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup of 1% milk (with a little extra added at the end) 3/4 of a small banana, a sprinkle of nutmeg, cinnamon, and splash of vanilla, raisins and barney butter on top!

I read the paper, enjoyed a cup of coffee and now I have to start getting ready for my day. I am super excited because my day involves the SPA with my mom! We are getting facials, massages, etc. and I have been looking forward to it for over a month. I think it will be really helpful for my running, too. We shall see!

Did anyone catch Jamie Oliver’s new show on ABC last night? His new show is called Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution and on the show he teaches people how to eat healthy (but fun and good!) food and transform their diets. He is in Huntington, West Virginia and in the first episode he goes into the school system to try and transform the breakfasts and lunches that the school serves to their students. I think it might be a long and hard battle for Jamie, it is really hard to change people – but I applaud him for making the attempt. I saw a sneak peak of the show on Sunday night, and I loved it!! I was out to dinner last night, and TiVoed the season premiere and I can’t wait to watch it at some point. The show will be on ABC Friday nights at 9pm. I think everyone should tune in to one of the shows, or set your TiVo or DVR 🙂

During my week of cooking I was definitely wondering if Mr. Oliver would appreciate the way I cook and eat. I eat a lot of vegetables, and most of the things I eat are meals I cooked myself. This week I had vegetable stir fry for Tuesday night, a tofu curry with spinach and red pepper for Wednesday (and left overs of both for Wednesday and Thursday dinners) and a rather fresh burrito for dinner on Thursday, and half of it for a left over on Friday. My daily snacks are usually fruit, veggies, and yogurt. (And of course my favorite peanut butter pretzels, which thankfully have no preservatives!) I think as long as you eat well most of the time, you should definitely feel free to indulge from time to time – or else what’s the point? 😀

Ok, well I am off. I will do a re-cap of the week in a bit. I cannot wait for the spa – I will report back. Enjoy your Saturday, everyone! If you’re in New England try and stay warm… Winter is back!
