Happy Sunday morning, everyone. I have said it before and I will say it again, I have a thing for stove top oats. Because I have to leave my house so early in the morning to get to work (I like to work an early schedule during the week so I can get home, still have day light and a bit of energy to either run outside or go to the gym) I never have time to make my oatmeal the old fashion way Monday through Friday. Yesterday, I went to my favorite coffee shop for breakfast, so today it was certainly time for oatmeal.
The weather was rather perfect for oatmeal today. When I woke up (for the second time) at 8:25 this morning, it was gray, cool and damp. Only about fifty degrees and the rain was on the way. I got some of my ingredients ready for oatmeal, along with a big cup of much needed coffee.
I actually won the beautiful hand painted bowl from another blog that I love reading, Trading Up Downtown. If you aren’t reading it yet, I highly recommend the blog. It is all about getting the most nutrition out of your food, and always has great tips for grocery shopping and recipes for healthy meals.
My breakfast ended up with a lot of random toppings today…. I took two pictures:
The first layer, more traditional (for me at least) healthy blueberries, yummy Teddie peanut butter, and an extra sprinkle of cinnamon. I was in the midst of cutting the strawberries… Then the final photograph of my breakfast – with a few more layers added:
Strawberries, a bit of brown sugar (which melted beautifully!) and a few semi-sweet chocolate chips… This bowl has more sugar than I would normally have for breakfast, but it is Sunday, and I decided to indulge! 🙂
I am glad I got up on the early side again this morning. I spent a little bit of time cleaning up the kitchen, working in my room and enjoying the Sunday morning political talk shows. I am really excited to get some reading done today, and of course some cooking! I’ll check back in later today. Hope you are all having a great Sunday.
