Hi Bloggies –
Hope everyone is having a great holiday weekend. I ended up having a a four day weekend because I took Friday off because the weather was supposed to be really bad. We were forecasted to have a day of Hurricane Earl, high winds, lots of rain, etc. Since we were going to have a storm, I decided to cook up a storm in the kitchen.
But first I needed to make a few preparations, in case we actually did lose power. I found a few candles and matches. We also have two battery powered lanterns and a few flashlights.
We never needed the candles.
On Friday morning I went to the market. It was 10:15 in the morning and there were so many people shopping. (No one does weather hysteria better than people from New England!) I decided on a whim to make Julia Child’s Supremes de Volaille aux Champignons (or chicken breasts with mushrooms and cream). It is sort of a simple recipe. I just picked up chicken, mushrooms, shallots, cream and I had the rest of what I needed at home already.
I decided to serve green beans on the side, and Mark did his famous smashed potatoes. I did not get around to snapping photos as I was making the Supremes de Volaille aux Champignons. Even though the ingredients are rather simple, you are working non stop until everything comes together.

It is a super rich meal, but it is soo good! I can’t wait for another special occasion to make it again.
