Happy Thursday, everyone! How has your week been? My week has been ok, not too long, not too short (when would a work week ever be too short?) Nothing here to complain about.
So, I think I might be in a work out rut… But I’m totally not stressing about it. As you know, I did not go to the gym yesterday. I rested, finished my book, enjoyed great Thai food for dinner and went to bed early. I woke up feeling rested (even at 5:45 this morning – something I hardly ever accomplish!) and had a good day. I went to the grocery store on my way home to pick up some things for dinner, and got home after 6 o’clock tonight. There was no way I was going to the gym. Tomorrow I have a post-op appointment, and I am really hoping to get the OK to go back to running or jogging… and if I do, I’ll have my stuff all packed and ready to go. I WILL be going to work out tomorrow, either way. (Walking if I do not get the clearance to jog!)
I am happy to report that I am sort of on an oatmeal kick now 🙂 But I have to tell you – instant oatmeal just does not compare to my awesome homemade oats. I think I might start making bigger batches once or twice a week and bringing it to work with me each day. Today I had a low sugar (the last packet left – I will now only by original oatmeal now that I have found it!) apple and cinnamon instant oatmeal. It was not that bad. But I was thinking of the awesome bowl I had yesterday for breakfast… Here is what I had today:
Not really that cool when compared to this:
Yum.
The oatmeal from yesterday kept me full for hours. I ate my breakfast this morning at 9am and by 11am my stomach was making noise. But I drank water, had another cup of coffee (only the second of the day) and waited until 12:15 for lunch.
I was looking forward to lunch, which was (according to the meal plan!) left over Thai food. Last night I ordered ginger chicken (comes sauteed with onion, mushrooms and great pieces of ginger!), vegetable dumplings, nime chow, and jasmine rice. Left overs today: ginger chicken and jasmine rice.
I split the left overs with my mom, so the bowl did not have a lot of food in it. But it was extremely satisfying. But twenty minutes after lunch I had a handful of grapes. At 2 o’clock I had an apple at my desk:
…and later I had a handful of whole grain Goldfish. I had a busy day. It went by quickly, which I always love.
As I was driving home today, I got to thinking about things that I love. Here are a few:
I love:
running into long lost friends at the market (I ran into my fourth grade teacher today!)
wearing comfortable clothes to work (love it – I was wrapped up in my favorite sweater all day today)
peanut butter pretzels
a great salad with tons of fresh vegetables from the local farmers market ( can’t wait for summer! )
a great book
homemade granola
e-mails from long lost friends
sleeping in and then enjoying coffee in bed
a great movie
homemade popcorn (to go with said great movie)
… anyhow. I like making lists of things that I love, too. 🙂
I am off to think about dinner. Will report back in a bit!
