Ugh, it was hard for me to get out of bed this morning. But somehow I managed. Last night after my dreadful workout, I decided that today was not going to be a gym going day for me. I have to stick to this decision, but somehow I doubt that will be a problem.
Because I was feeling low energy yesterday and this morning, I decided to switch up my routine a little bit when it comes to breakfast. Normally I get out of bed anywhere between 5:30 and 6:00 AM on the week days. I will have coffee at home and on my commute to work. But on a normal day I will sometimes not eat breakfast until somewhere between 8:30 and 9:30 in the morning. That is three – four hours of activity without any nourishment. No matter who you ask in the nutrition world, that is probably not a good thing.
So, today I got up, had a cup of coffee while I did my morning routine… I relaxed and did not stress out as much as I usually do about what time I am getting out the door to beat the commuting traffic. (Two things helped with my ability to relax this morning 1. it is school vacation week for public schools in RI and MA 2. I don’t need to rush home at the end of the day since I’m not going to work out) I enjoyed my coffee. And before I left the house, I got out peanut butter (picked up at the farmers market this weekend – more on that later!) and a slice of whole wheat bread, and made myself breakfast. I took it with me on the commute and it was a great snack while I drove to work.
When I got to work this morning I also decided to make the time to ice my knee for twenty minutes. You might remember last spring and summer I started having trouble with my left knee and was later diagnosed with a very serious case of runners knee or bursitis which was extremely uncool and painful. Over the last couple of days I have been having a little bit of knee discomfort – I would not even call it pain. But I decided to jump ahead of the game and start my old icing, elevation, etc. routine to get ahead of the possibility as much as I can.
I must admit, I hate icing my knee – but I hate being injured more, so I’ll take this ice pack any time.
Sexy, huh? 😉
Anyhow, I hope everyone is having a good Tuesday. I’ll be back to talk about the food I have packed for work today. I think I might have over compensated after yesterday’s near caloric disaster… I am still not quite sure why I was so hungry yesterday!
See you in a bit!
