Happy Tuesday night, everyone!
Well, today’s post title might say it all. I am giving myself a break tonight. For the past three weeks I have been on the run every night and every weekend. Today I was cranky, tired, hungry and sort of displeased overall. So when I hit a massive traffic jam on my way home from work, I decided tonight would be a night of rest. I did not have to worry about dinner, and I just figured it would be a good thing to go home and veg out. So I talked with my friend Ned for a while. Thankfully he woke me up a bit – I was ready for bed at 5:15 tonight!
After being revived, I got up and started reading one of my new cookbooks. Now I am thinking about dinner. I will be throwing together a salad and having a piece of pizza that is left over from last night’s amazing dinner.
Breakfast today was a smoothie. Mom had plans to go out for breakfast today, so I made a smoothie for one today.
Ingredients:
1 small banana
1 handful of blueberries
1/3 cup plain non fat yogurt
1/2 T chia seeds
1/2 T flax seeds
1/2 scoop of protein powder
1 T PB2
It was a great smoothie.
I had a 100 calorie mini-Clif bar as a mid morning snack at around 10 o’clock this morning. Good thing because I did not have lunch until after 1 o’clock today. I was starving. Thankfully I had packed a really good (and healthy) lunch:
Carrot sticks, a Stoneyfield vanilla yogurt, an Adora calcium disk and a sandwich.
I decided to do sandwiches for lunch this week – this one really satisfied my craving for a turkey sandwich!
On a whole wheat Arnold’s sandwich thin I put spinach, red onion, turkey from Whole Foods, dijon mustard a a tiny amount of mayonnaise. So. Good. Even after eating all of this wholesome food, I was still hungry (when I am tired I often get much more hungry – I can’t figure out why!) so I had five peanut butter pretzels.
Ok, I’m off to chop up some veggies for a salad and heat up some pizza. See you in a bit!
