I really did not want to run today. But I did because I had to keep the streak alive! I pushed myself a little bit to run a decent amount (I am training for a couple of 10Ks after all!) Here is something random for the record: half a pear and 1 big mug of coffee is not enough to run 5 1/2 miles on! But that’s what I did today. After 2 miles I consumed 4 sports jelly beans and some water 🙂 It was a nice snack.
I drank about 18 ounces of water during my run. It was hot. I ran in my new Nike running cap and a lot of sun screen!
After the run I went to Whole Foods to pick up a few things. Can we discuss for a moment the fact that I go to the grocery store almost every single day of my life?? Ok, so I probably don’t but a lot of the time it feels like I do. Friday, Saturday and Sunday I was definitely at the market.
Today I bought 5 Chobani yogurts (they are on sale at WF 10 for $10 – just FYI!) , two tomatoes, a cucumber, two pieces of “naked” grilled chicken (for salads this week), a container of WF whey protein powder, a packet of Amazing Meal and a container of WF plain yogurt for smoothies. I forgot bananas.
When I got home I immediately started on my recovery smoothie. There is nothing better than a smoothie after a summer run. Today the smoothie prep looked like this:
In the mix today:
2 handfuls of spinach
1/4 cup blueberries
about 3/4 of a cup of light soy milk
1/4 cup of plain yogurt
ice
a packet of this:
(The packet was 90 calories with ten grams of protein and six grams of fiber) It had a great flavor. The end result of my smoothie was really wonderful, and it was a nice color, too!
After the smoothie I snacked on a couple of pretzel thins and a tablespoon of humus. I have packed my running bag for the week. Three pairs of clean shorts, three clean singlets, and three pairs of socks. So I’m set for three days, and after that I’ll have to do some laundry 🙂 It makes me feel a little more settled that I at least have enough packed for three days.
OK bloggies. I am signing off for now and I’m off to get more organized for the coming week. Enjoy the rest of your day!
Good for you for pushing yourself to go on that run! Sometimes it can be so difficult to get the energy. I did a blog post today with a couple summer cool down/detox smoothie recipes that I thought you might enjoy. Best of luck in your upcoming 10k’s! http://healingdepression.wordpress.com/2012/06/04/smoothies-that-detoxify-and-cool/
Thank you so much for the comment and the smoothie recipes!
You’re very welcome!
