Happy National Running Day, everyone!! This is the second year in a row that it has rained in Providence on Running Day. However, last year we were under a tornado warning so I will take normal downpours any day!!
Before I get to my one mile run and the rest of my work out, I’m rewinding to the beginning of the day.
Thankfully I was able to get up when my alarm went off this morning at 5:35. I got ready for work, and went downstairs to start the smoothies. I had prepared everything the night before, so that was very helpful. All of the ingredients went straight into the blender:
Spinach, blueberries, strawberries, plain yogurt, soy milk, protein powder & chia seeds. YUM. It was very pretty all blended up together:
I got my half of the smoothie into my travel container, fixed my coffee and filled up my water bottle. It occurred to me that I drink a lot of liquid in the morning!
I left the house early today – but I didn’t drink the smoothie right away. I enjoyed it in the last twenty minutes of my drive though. At 10:30 I had a snack because my stomach was grumbling and people were looking at me funny (seriously, they were). Pumpkin Kashi granola bar and water to the rescue:
I had another busy day today at work, but it was not a stressful day for the most part. I think it was a huge help that the sun was out at lunch time and I was able to go for a two mile walk with two of my good friends. Fresh air and exercise is the KEY to making me feel better!
Lunch was at 1 o’clock today. A vegetable wrap that had spinach, red peppers, cucumbers and a couple of pieces of grilled chicken along with garlic hummus spread on the whole wheat wrap. This sandwich was SUCH a winner! I loved it:
I also snacked on some cantaloupe:
Later in the afternoon I snacked on a few of the Laurel Hill pumpkin seed chips, but they did not get their picture taken today. I left work around 4 o’clock and headed to the gym. By this point the rain had started, so the drive took a little while and I opted for skipping an outdoor run. It paid off because not only did I run the one mile on a treadmill at the gym, I did 30 minutes on the elliptical machine. This got me well over an hour of cardio today for exercise, and I’m happy with that!
I am off to get ready for dinner. See you in a bit!
