Happy Monday, bloggies! How was your Monday? I had a pretty good day considering how exhausted I am.
I think the streak really started getting to me on Saturday. I had a decent (but not great) 5.65 mile run on Saturday morning with my running buddy but by Saturday afternoon I was so exhausted. By Saturday night I was nearly passed out on the couch by 8 o’clock. It was hard to move. I cannot remember the last time I was so tired. It is also possible that I did not eat enough on Saturday for an almost six mile run. I started the morning off by a half of a sandwich thin with a small spoonful of peanut butter and a few slices of banana:
After the run I refueled with a low key smoothie. Half a cup of plain yogurt, 1/4 cup of frozen blueberries, 1/3 of a banana and a scoop of protein powder. Was it not enough? I don’t know. Later in the afternoon I stopped by Starbucks and ordered a skim milk latte. I didn’t have anything else again until dinner – which was fantastic. I had a pulled pork sandwich 🙂 Looking back at my day of food and exercise, I guess I should have had more. On Saturday evening I enjoyed a made from scratch brownie and some vanilla ice cream – it was fantastic!
Today I got back on track with food. On my way to work I enjoyed a Luna bar as I listened to a book on tape on my morning commute. At 10 o’clock I had a 0% Greek yogurt. At noon I went for a two mile walk with some colleagues. At 1 o’clock I enjoyed a great sandwich:
I cannot remember the last time I had a sandwich for lunch – it was amazing!! We used one of the healthy types of Arnold’s bread. I put dijon mustard, roasted red pepper hummus, a small and thin piece of Swiss cheese and Boar’s head reduced sodium turkey on the sandwich. I think I might have sandwiches for lunch a little more often!
The other day my friend Kate and I tried the über Lärabar. Have you tried one of these bars yet? There are four flavors so far: Apple Turnover, Bananas Foster, Cherry Cobbler, and Roasted Nut Roll. We tried the Bananas Foster:
This bar is really dense, and I am very glad that I had someone to split it with!
As you all know, I love Lärabars. But I have to say that I was not the biggest fan of this bar. It was very dense, and there were 17 grams of fat in the bar and only four grams of protein. Of course not everything has to have a lot of protein in it – but, I think I might stick with my normal favorite mini Lärabars for the most part. But if I need a bar for a long trip where I will not be able to snack much, this bar would definitely be awesome because it is very filling! I also have to say that I really loved the flavor of the bar.
As for a streak update, I have to tell you that on Sunday I walked 1.76 miles and today I walked two miles. I took the last two days off from running because I was so exhausted. I have the BAA 10K coming up in a couple of weeks and I really want to be in good shape for the race. I do not think the streak was going to let me be as well rested as I need to be to perform well for the race. I am enjoying a low key evening tonight – I hope to get some reading done and to go to bed early.
I hope your week is off to a wonderful start so far! See you soon.
