I made a smoothie this morning – actually I made two. Usually my smoothies are really packed with ingredients and quite nutritionally dense. This morning I just was not feeling it, so I made a lighter smoothie for the road. In the mix this morning:
2 handfuls of spinach
A few frozen blueberries (maybe 1/4 of a cup?)
1 banana
1 scoop of whey protein
1/3 cup of 0% Stonyfield yogurt
Ice
Water
The smoothie tasted really good – but an hour after I was really hungry. Thankfully I have a box of Kashi Pumpkin Spice Flax granola bars just for such an emergency:
I am hoping this bar will do the trick! Stay tuned for an interesting day of exercise and eating… There is rain in the forecast for “this afternoon” or “tonight” and all day tomorrow – so I am hoping to get in at least a four mile run and a walk at lunch. I am keeping my fingers crossed that today’s run might feel a lot better than some of my recent runs since I have sort of given my body a two day break (walking doesn’t count as high performance exercise – it is more for fun in my book!) But I definitely feel like I am still recovering to get back to my normal level of energy. Hopefully today’s run will help me get back into gear and feeling like my normal self again.
