Breakfast

Saturday’s Breakfast

Good morning bloggies. How is your Saturday going so far? My day is not off to a smashing start, I must say. Last night I set my alarm for 6:15 AM so that I could get up, eat something and get ready to go for a run before it got really hot outside. Then I had the worst night’s sleep I can remember!! I do not even know how much sleep I actually got. It was not much. There was no way I could go for a good run after just getting a couple of hours of sleep. But I ended up getting up at 7:50 AM and fixing up some iced coffee and breakfast.

It’s too late to go running now. It’s H-O-T out right now. So I’ll be hitting up the gym at some point today. It is sort of nice not to have to rush though. But I was looking forward to a nice run today.

On Friday night just before midnight, I was still awake. I started craving a whole wheat waffle with almond butter. Seriously? I did not go downstairs and make a waffle because I was so tired and I wanted to sleep. I wonder if I would have slept better if I did go and make a waffle. Hmm.

This morning I knew what I was having for breakfast! I toasted a Vans whole wheat waffle, put some Trader Joe’s almond butter on it (less than a tablespoon) and drizzled about a tablespoon of maple syrup on top. Then I topped the waffle with 1/3 of a banana (I’m saving the rest of the banana for lunch – maybe a post workout smoothie?) and I chopped up a few strawberries on the side. I love this breakfast!

Along with the waffle and fruit, I had a nice glass of iced coffee with soy milk.

This breakfast was really nice and I am enjoying relaxing this morning. But I do feel bad about missing my run. Thankfully I do not have a big race coming up any time soon, so I’m not in the midst of an intense training plan. Missing one scheduled run will not be the end of the world.

OK – I am off to enjoy my day. I hope you are too!
