Tuesday and a New Yogurt!

So much for the creative blog titles this week, I guess. More on the new yogurt in a few minutes.

This morning I made a smoothie! I cannot remember why I got out of the habit of making them this summer, but I did. I was happy to have a smoothie this morning. But I had not prepared any of the ingredients the night before so it definitely took me a little longer to get my show on the road. (And that is why there is no picture of the smoothie). But here is what went into it:

2 handfuls baby spinach (raw)

1 small banana

1/4 cup blueberries (more tomorrow!)

1 scoop Whole Foods Whey chocolate protein

6 ounces of Chobani 0% plain greek yogurt

ice

water

yield: 2 smoothies

I did not have time to eat again until noon, when I had a little less than half of a Think Thin protein bar left over from the other day (last week). It was a great pre-walk snack, my stomach had started to grumble during a two hour morning meeting – a snack was much needed the moment the meeting wrapped up.

It was really hot out today. The walk down was pretty nice, there was a breeze off of the water. But when we turned around we were not aware of what we were in for. There was no breeze. It was H-O-T and humid. Totally disgusting. I was wearing a really pretty (some might say cute) pencil skirt and I was boiling on the walk back to the office. But still, I am glad I went for my 30 minute walk today.

Lunch was cool (temperature wise – no soup today, that is for sure!) and fun. I felt like I was having a picnic at my desk while I responded to work emails:

A gala apple (with 1 tablespoon of Barney Butter not pictured)

Babybel light cheese (I love this cheese!!!! I love that it has a decent amount of protein in it and a extra calcium since I can never seem to get enough)

Whole wheat crackers from Whole Foods

and…..

The new yogurt! This is a new yogurt (I think – I have never seen it before last night!) from Whole Foods. It is modeled after Fage, and it tastes really good! I love that the fruit is on the side because I never mix all of the fruit in. I love having just a taste of the fruit and I appreciate the fact that I can mix my yogurt myself and make it taste the way I want. This yogurt gets a really big thumbs up from me. I loved this flavor, blueberry and pomegranate.

At three o’clock I was really hungry so I had a half of a handful of peanuts (left over from my flight back from DC – you never know when you might need South West peanuts for a work snack!) and later a Kashi peanut butter granola bar.

On my way home (I didn’t leave work until 5 o’clock) I snacked on half of a serving of whole grain Goldfish crackers. I knew that if I did not snack I would not get a lot out of my evening workout because I would be starving and dreaming of mac & cheese. 🙂

I did accomplish 40 minutes on the elliptical machine. I also wanted to run a mile on the treadmill, but for the second day in a row my achilles tendon on my right foot / leg has been sore. Ugh. This is sort of freaking me out – so I opted out of the run.

Dinner tonight was an amazing salad that my mom made. It was a salad with mixed greens, vegetables, a hard boiled egg and some tuna. We toasted some french bread on the side (my favorite thing, possibly in the world. I love bread – but I am trying to eat less of it).

We topped the salad with almonds and dried cranberries.

I accomplished a lot tonight and because I did, I hope that I can sleep better than I have been lately. I did laundry, I wrote two thank you notes, I prepared tomorrow morning’s smoothie and packed a lot of my lunch in advance. I really hope I can get out the door a lot sooner than I did today to get my morning started on the right foot. To do that, I definitely have to go to bed early – so I am wrapping this post up.
See you tomorrow!
